I have been a librarian here at UTPA for over a year. I got my bachelors here at this university and attended TWU to get my Masters in Library Science. I enjoy reading a good book and walking. I look forward to answering your questions.

Hi! My name is Melissa Place and in addition to being one of your personal librarians, I am a reference librarian here at UTPA. I'm originally from Arkansas but moved to the Valley from Dallas. I love to read, especially fiction books. I am the proud owner of a Dachshund, named Holly, and a cat, named Monk. I look forward to meeting you and helping you.

UTPA Assignment Calculator - This web tool gives you deadlines for each step of the research process. Also contains links for assignment assistance if you are having problems.

Subject Guides - These electronic tools give suggestions for reference books, databases, and websites where you can start searching for information on different topics. The subject guides are divided up by the different colleges of UTPA.

Writing Center - The University Writing Center (UWC) offers UTPA faculty and students assistance with academic writing in all disciplines. Peer tutors, certified by the College Reading and Learning Association, assist students meeting class writing assignment requirements.

Research 101 - A self paced tutorial that teaches student how to do research and use the UTPA Library's resources.

CAMP PowerPoint presentation - This PowerPoint gives CAMP students the basics of using UTPA Library.
